DetailsPurple Fringed Riccia (ricciocarpus natans) is a beautiful floating plant in the liverwort family Ricciaceae. It's a fast growing- extremely hardy, fresh water plant that can also be grown emersed and inside a Terrarium. One portion should last a hobbyist a lifetime if cared for correctly.
I especially love this floater because instead of long roots that can be obtrusive, it has very short purple rhizoids which don't hang down far at all, and actually stick out more horizontally causing a "social distancing" which in turn lets enough light through; even when the surface is fully covered. They do a fantastic job at drawing out those nitrates, and I keep them in all my shrimp tanks.
Purple Fringed Riccia can also be grown terrestrially but must be kept moist, the terrestrial version grows larger but keeps the same shape.
You will receive a similar amount shown in the pictures (40+ segments) All my Purple Fringed Riccia are grown indoors under full spectrum aquarium lighting, it can be grown in very low to bright lights. (unlikely, but may contain snails) -

Very well grown Ricciocarpos natans. I was so happy that there were no pests, contaminants, or algae. It’s hard to find floaters this nice! I’m glad I found this seller.
