Plagiomnium Medium is a beautiful and delicate addition to any of your terrarium projects. Plagiomnium mosses have small translucent leaves with tiny teeth around the edge, you'll also see long fern-like fronds that grow in between the male and female gametophytes. Alpine Thyme Moss is the largest plagiomnium species available and looks really large compared to baby-tooth moss (plagiomnium cuspidatum)

Plagiomnium Medium grows on soil, humus, rock, and tree bases in wet forests, cliffs/talus, and swamps in low to moderate elevations.

Mosses are a non-vascular plant, which basically means they don’t have any internal veins transporting water and nutrients from the root system. Instead of roots, moss soaks up water through their tiny leaves from the moisture in the air, from rain, morning dew, and the wet ground. Moss has tiny hair-like strands called rhyzoids which look like roots, but instead of sucking up water, they’re used for clinging to surfaces, substrates, and even each other! Since moss loves moisture, it makes them ideal candidates for terrariums and other humid setups like paludariums, vivariums, and ripariums, although survival is never guaranteed.
Moss loves the humidity of a terrarium but does not like extreme heat. It’s best kept in a cool shady spot near a north-facing window, but can be adapted to all kinds of situations.

According to the Flora of North America: "Erect stems 2-4 cm, not dendroid; sterile stems to 8 cm. Leaves green or yellow-green, crisped and contorted when dry, flat when moist, elliptic, broadly elliptic, or sometimes obovate or oblong, (3.5-)4-7(-10) mm; base long-decurrent; margins toothed to near base, teeth sharp or occasionally blunt, of 1-2(-3) cells; apex obtuse, rounded, acute, acuminate, or rarely retuse, mucronate or cuspidate, cusp sometimes toothed; costa percurrent or excurrent; medial laminal cells usually elongate, short-elongate, or occasionally ± isodiametric, (35-)50-65 (-85) µm, less than 1/2 size near margins, in longitudinal or diagonal rows, collenchymatous, walls pitted; marginal cells linear, in 2-4 rows. Sexual condition synoicous. Seta (1-)3(-7), yellow to reddish or orange with age, 2-5 cm. Capsule pendent, oblong, cylindric, or narrow-ovoid, 3-4.5 mm, neck not distinct; operculum conic-apiculate.
