Rhytidiadelphus Triquetrus or Teddy-bear Moss is a large shaggy bryophyte with a floppy head and curved arms, giving it a fun bear-like appearance. Similar in stature to Climacium Tree Moss, it can be used to mimic small trees or add texture to your terrarium build or creation.

Teddy-bear moss can be found in open humus-rich woodland or on semi-shaded banks near streams, ponds, and swampy areas. Teddy-bear Moss grows in calcareous zones but can also grow in acidic and neutral soils.

Mosses are a non-vascular plant, which basically means they don’t have any internal veins transporting water and nutrients from the root system. Instead of roots, moss soaks up water through their tiny leaves from the moisture in the air, from rain, morning dew, and the wet ground. Moss has tiny hair-like strands called rhyzoids which look like roots, but instead of sucking up water, they’re used for clinging to surfaces, substrates, and even each other! Since moss loves moisture, it makes them ideal candidates for terrariums and other humid setups like paludariums, vivariums, and ripariums, although survival is never guaranteed.
Moss loves the humidity of a terrarium but does not like extreme heat. It’s best kept in a cool shady spot near a north-facing window, but can be adapted to all kinds of situations.

Rhytidiadelphus triquetrus is a pleurocarpous moss. Gametophytes form loose mats of coarse, interwoven, and branched shoots. The stem is red, while the leaves are yellow-green in color. Leaves are pleated and wrinkled and have a double costa. The costae do not extend the whole length of the leaf. The lamina cells are elongated and the leaf margins are toothed. The marginal cells are not otherwise differentiated from the rest of the laminal cells. The stem has a central conducting strand, a cortex of parenchymal cells, and an epidermis of stereids.

    Great and fast service. 👌

Wonderful quality, exactly as pictured. Will definitely be placing another order

Love these little green, healthy teddy bear moss trees. I received at least 12+ of them and used part to create a tiny forest in one of my terrariums. Thanks for the lovely bonus - one of which trees I put in my Little Mountain terrarium kit jar. And thank you for your quick shipping and great customer service and advice.

Super cool moss. I can't wait to sew it grow in!
